Health Contest Breakdown

It’s not too late to take advantage of IUC – Bryan/College Station’s Summer Health Contest. For many people it seems like the middle of summer – but there’s plenty of time left to give your health and fitness level a kick! The competition is open to anyone in the Bryan/College Station community who is ready and willing to improve their level of health. You do NOT need to be an existing client of Integrity Urgent Care.

How do I get started?
Call our Bryan/College Station office at 979-703-1832 during normal business hours (8 am – 8 pm daily) to register or complete our online sign-up form. After an initial exam (including a physical and baseline lab work), participants can return to the clinic every four weeks for 3 months (up to a total of 4 visits). The fee for the initial visit (including physical exam and lab fees) is $35. Each subsequent visit is $20 (for consultation and lab fees) for 3 additional visits at a total cost is $95.

What are the advantages to participation?

Integrity Urgent Care will monitor each patient's weight, BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and Hemoglobin A1c levels. In addition, checking in monthly – at your convenience – will allow you to become acquainted with the facility and staff of healthcare professionals at Integrity Urgent Care. Our staff will help keep you motivated and provide encouragement along the way during your challenge. What we will monitor:

  • Weight and BMI: Having a “baseline” weight is helps identify sudden weight gain or loss which may indicate an underlying medical condition.  BMI (Body Mass Index) is a simple calculation to determine if your weight is healthy for your height. Being overweight or obese puts strain on the heart and can lead to other serious health problems, including arthritis in knees and hips; heart disease; high blood pressure; sleep apnea; and Type 2 diabetes. BMI alone can’t predict health risk, but it can be used as an overall health indicator.
  • Blood pressure: Blood pressure is a measurement of the force exerted against artery walls as the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Hypertension is used to describe high – or elevated – blood pressure. Untreated high blood pressure can lead to several medical conditions including: heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, eye problems, and more. Low blood pressure may be “normal” for some people or be caused by a medical condition or medication.
  • Cholesterol levels: Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in all the cells in your body. The liver makes cholesterol, and it is also in some foods, such as meat and dairy products. Your body needs some cholesterol to work properly, but if you have too much cholesterol in your blood, you have a higher risk of coronary artery disease.
  • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c): This is a blood test for type 2 diabetes and prediabetes which measures the average blood sugar (glucose) level over the previous 3 months. This test may be used alone or in combination with other factors to make a diabetes diagnosis and the levels are a good monitoring tool for type 2 diabetes patients.

Need more motivation? At the end of the competition, winners will be chosen based on who has the best results. Each section will be weighted and whoever gets the most points wins. You have nothing to lose! There will be three winners. First place receives a $100 Amazon gift card; 2nd place a $75 Amazon gift card; 3rd third place a $50 Amazon gift card.

Don’t let the “dog days of summer” get you down. Feeling fit and healthy has mental health benefits, as well as physical. The Integrity Urgent Care team of certified, highly skilled and experienced care providers always has our patients’ best interests and well- being at heart. Come check us out today!
