Integrity Urgent Care is pleased to announce that we now offer DOT Physicals to your community! The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires those with a Commercial Driver’s License to get regular physicals. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions regarding DOT physicals.

How often do I need to get a DOT physical?

Usually, you will only need a passing DOT Physical Exam every 24 months. Occasionally, this period may be less for those with medical conditions that need more frequent monitoring. Examples could include those taking blood pressure or oral diabetes medications or those with a sleep disorder.

What will my DOT Physical include?

  • A review of your medical history.
  • Vision and hearing tests.
  • Recording of your vitals
  • A physical examination
  • A urinalysis

What are the physical requirements to pass the exam?

  • You must have 20/40 vision in each eye individually and both eyes together (with corrective lenses if needed).
  • You must be able to distinguish the colors found on traffic signals.
  • You must be able to hear a forced whisper five feet away.
  • Your blood pressure must be below 160/100. You may use prescription medication to achieve this threshold.
  • If you have diabetes, it must be controlled with diet or medication (not insulin injections).
  • Your blood sugar must be below 200.

What should I bring with me to my DOT Physical appointment?

You should bring a list of the medications that you are currently taking and your glasses or contacts if you require corrective lenses. You should also bring your last Medical Exam card if applicable. Those who have been diagnosed with a cardiac disease must pass a stress test with their physician and bring a note proving their results.

Contact your Integrity Urgent Care location to get a DOT Physical; we are open from 8 am – 8 pm, seven days a week!
