Choosing Integrity Urgent Care over an ER

Attention all Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) HMO members: by now, you should have received a letter from BCBS informing you of the insurance changes regarding the use of Emergency Rooms. Beginning on June 4, 2018, all patients who visit the ER for a non-life-threatening issue are subject to pay the entirety of their bill.

HMO vs. PPO – What’s the Difference?

Most health insurance plans are either a PPO or an HMO plan. It’s important to know what type of plan you have and understand how this affects your healthcare benefits. If you have an HMO, you must choose a primary care doctor from a list of covered providers. This doctor will treat you and must give you a referral if you need to see a specialist. However, in most cases you can go to an Urgent Care Center such as Integrity Urgent Care or the emergency room without a referral.
